Rally Race Vancouver

Rally Race Vancouver – The routine is simply too familiar: wake up in the morning in winter, the roll with a frozen door, scratch the windshield with a credit card curse forgotten gloves and sucking cold fingers, buckle up to your Hans and racing helmet.

Welcome to Patrick Richards Sideways World World, a four-time Canadian Rally Champion, a double rally champion, a recently certified mountain guide, an ex-Ski bum and a snowboard champion. The guy was practically born in the Schneebank.

At this year’s Victor Snowbound Rally Perce Pat, Pat “Rocket” Richard is not only one of the best drivers in sports, but also a three hundred horsepower in Subaru. I got in touch with him to see what his snow -covered secrets are.

6 Of The Longest Motorsport Endurance Races

Pat ‘Rocket’ Richard emphasizes that the key to coping with the snow calculation is to constantly control the car.

“When the rally gathers on ice and snow … the key to fasting and falling in 100% of the cases is completely and completely checked,” he explained his rally building in Squamish, B.C. “Never let the car do something that you won’t say, it will do it.”

If you ever were lucky enough to see Richard’s speed behind the bike, a cloudy snow that flows behind his race, Rally Blue Sti, may not be easy. Auto -Jet machines such as COMET, bite deep into the snow and on the ice, but take care of the corners wildly and jump over the routine.

Inside, the front cameras, which are on the front show show, cover the windshield, each of which is a potential breed. Richard before the driver’s exhibition, which Fred Astaires makes three-path dance dance and plays constantly in small price repairs with instructions.

If the director has ever voted “slow hands, fast car”, this intensive saw is exactly the opposite. Nevertheless, observe the trace of the car from the air and the violence and speed of Intra -Car fade in a kind of snowball. Sti slips into a perfect, endless curved line that flows smoothly through the black and white landscape. Richard’s control is clearly absolutely absolutely. While Quebec’s perception is tilting the only real snow event in a rally circle, the rest of the calendar often presents winter obstacles. “We compete in Slush, Pure Snow, Snow, Snow, Ice and ICE,” explains Richard in the order of the largest grip.

Bringing a car into the competition is a key, although the basics are the same for all winter meetings. The rocket rally team in Squamish -base softens the suspension by reducing the stiffness of the feather and removing the rocky couples. The brake plays more backwards and sets targeting to turn faster.

“Finally, but above all,” says Pat, “choose the right tires.” All tires that transport the rocket rally at winter meetings are based on the winter tires on the street.

“We have pure snow yields that are thin and tall (biting in the snow) with” extended “profile patterns”, explains Pat. If the swallows are smaller grooves that can be seen in the street driver in the street, the decorations are larger workers’ profiles such as mountain bike tires. Small swallows add Tarta on the ice, but you can pack snow-interest decorations, treat the snow in the same way as off-road vehicles for slippery mud.

“We have slush and snow in the ice rings, which are usually like a gravel ring, but with large peeling closures,” he adds, “and we have full ice rings that are” traction “icycles. The applicant is a device that looks like a dyno roll, but has thousands of small spikes.”

“It is like pushing a hockey oven on ice hockey pipes,” he says with the Canadians of the metaphors, “Every feed they give is like knocking with the bar.”

In addition to the gentle stick house, which is needed to remove the defense, the brain of the racial driver is constantly owned by weight management. “You have to be on purpose and you have to be patient,” he says.

“The tires have only so much grip, and the only way to get this tire under control is to transfer more weight to this tire.

Moving the mass is something that a racing driver who is worthy of his salt is constantly analyzed during the running. If the conditions also offer almost all of them for an all-wheel drive car, the careful mental eye of the scale is of the utmost importance.

“It is a sensitive but conscious balancing act between legs and steering to build up the transmission of weight transmissions and grab tires without crossing it and losing control,” says Richard, adding: “You have to concentrate like crazy because you cannot make mistakes in all inserts or lose the car.”

The champion has another tip for potential rally master. “If you think you can stop, you can’t go quickly because the reality is, you can’t stop.”

For those of us who only want to get it up to date, Richard’s tips extend to the usual preventive maintenance and fundamental disorder, but he has strongly emphasized the selection of tires. “Good windscreen wipers, good washing machine liquid, shovel and return rope and emergency pack, but above all it is winter tires,” he says, “I can’t emphasize that enough!”

So the next time you find a sudden snowfall, remember the treatment of Richard’s role with an aloga and do not keep the income gently and deliberately.

At the same time you will find information about the participation and grinding of your winter car management rally at the Canadian Rally Championship at www.carsrally.ca. It is one of the most challenging whatever someone can do, but as a man you call it a “rocket”, says “the apartment on the icy stage is most satisfactory, because if you do it right, you feel really good. “
