How To: Road Trip With A Baby/toddler And Not Lose Your Sh*t
My first advice on how to do a road trip is to give them a lot of quality entertainment. I will definitely give my baby a long journey, but we always do other activities first. And most of the time, I don’t even have to throw my iPad because these babies have been entertaining for so long.
This is a screenless audio player that plays a variety of books, music or games depending on which card is inserted. There are hundreds of different audio cards to choose from so that your little one has endless options. This small cube greatly reduced the amount of TV on my baby’s watch and kept him on our road trip for a long time.
Mini Magnetic Blocks: These blocks are easy and compact, making them ideal for driving. My kids spend endless hours configuring them in different forms. I took a small thing about them from the target dollar, but any situation works. If you have babies, be careful because there are some tiny magnets inside if broken.
WOW WOW Coloring Pads: I loved these coloring pads for years. You can fill the pen with water and then “paint” on the painting pad. Once dry, the colors disappear so that they can be used over and over again. There are dozens of different scenarios, so if your little one comes to find a princess, dragons, construction vehicles, animals or something, they have something.

Books are the second thing that my baby has longest (Yoto Player is the first). I’m going to keep books from his usual rotations, so they’re new and fun when he walks on the road. We also like to view books from the library before traveling. I just made sure we left them in the car so we didn’t get lost.
If you have a baby that is more accessible to the baby when it is not monitored, a whiteboard is a great option!
Good snacks are very important to please any toddler, especially if they are limited to car seats. I love that you have a lot of nutritious snacks and fun snacks.
One of my favorite ways to give baby snacks is his lunch box for lunch. It is sealed so the snacks stay fresh and separate, making it fun and exciting.

There are many factors to consider when choosing a day to travel: If/when you have other commitments, how long does it take to get there for a nap? I will share the pros and cons, different times of the day.
In the morning, I rarely travel on roads. I only have a whole day to do this, otherwise I can’t leave the day, but I have to be at the destination. I would rather give my baby a chance to gain energy before getting on the car.
The only exception is if we really left early. 4:00 Agri. This is a good time because my child is likely to fall asleep early and fall asleep at the beginning of the journey.
I love the afternoons, especially before my nap time (or an hour before). This is ideal because my kids will read or listen to the book and then fall asleep for a few hours. When he wakes up, he can eat some snacks and go back to the toys.

I’m a big fan of driving overnight. If you drive alone, I don’t recommend this because it’s best to drive when you’re tired. I’m a night owl too, and I don’t plan to be late. We usually leave for an hour or two before the baby goes to bed and then they drive all the trips. There is also little traffic.
However, it has some negative numbers. Depending on the time of your travel time, you can reach your destination in the middle of the night, you have to wake up the baby and try to go back to sleep in a new place. The next day, you may be really tired, so it can be painful depending on the plan.
I’ve talked to my pediatrician about the kids in the car seat for so long and she said it’s good, but if you have any questions, talk to yourself. (I don’t recommend it to young babies)
Before I travel with the kids, I wondered what the best way to go to the bathroom, especially multiplication. I’ll discuss some options:

Obviously, these are the most common places to go to the bathroom on the way. If you still need to take me, this is a great stop. However, it is painful to take children and prevent them from touching dirty surfaces. Also, the fact that you have to keep your baby on your legs while holding the bathroom isn’t fun.
I’m also cautious about every place I stop when traveling alone with my kids, and sometimes from the gas station makes me feel a little unobtrusive.
Usually, when I drive with my kids, I just pull out the edge of the road and dirt quickly (*just for urination). I pulled out the exit or where there was no traffic, but it worked very well! Quick, I was on the road in 2 minutes. If you do this, be sure to bring a zipper or something to put second-hand toilet paper. Or, you can use Bandan (when I do it most often, when I have a backpack). You don’t want to leave any waste on the roadside.
Whenever we travel for a long distance, I like to have some extra gear in case of emergencies or delays.

Make sure your baby doesn’t have to stop when he falls asleep. The last thing you have to do is stop the restroom or finally let the little one fall asleep with gas. So make sure you have everything you need to do, including snacks.
Stop. I am someone who only wants to reach our destination. But stopping every 2-3 hours does make the trip more enjoyable. Let the little kids run around and stretch something.
Download your own several types of entertainment. I love that when my kids fall asleep, I have something to listen to. I’m personally a huge audiobook fan, but switching between music and applt is sometimes great. It helps me stay awake for time. I use the Libby app to get free audio books from my local library.
Download GasBuddy. I have owned this app for years and it only shows the price of gasoline in any area I want. I’m going to look for gas prices in the area I’m going to stop, so I’m not going to stop at a random gas station, which is $1 more than a station directly on the street. It saved me a lot of money.
